Your Oxygen Mask First If you’ve flown on a airplane, you’ve heard this phrase: in an emergency, place the oxygen masks on yourself first, then provide help. Why? The simple reply is that you should care for your self before you’ll have the ability to care for anyone else. You’re no good to anyone if you’re in misery. Kevin N. Lawrence is the author of Your Oxygen Mask First; 17 Habits to Help High Achievers Survive & Thrive in Leadership & Life. But should you spend your days answering questions, your group mostly learns that you've all of the answers. And, he says, guess what? Your group in all probability already knew the answer anyway. They simply check in to allow them to really feel more secure. They are afraid of getting it wrong, or of disappointing you. Your job is to transfer that feeling of security away from you. Empower them to consider their very own options, take a look at them, and achieve confidence through experience. Give them an project and permit them to figure it out themselves.
